General Information about Bandipur Tiger Reserve

History


The history of this park is quite rich, till 1941 it was the hunting destination for Maharajas of Mysore. It was brought under Project Tiger in 1973 which made it to be one of the most well managed national parks in India. This park has gone through many ups and down due to the bad effect of Kabini River Valley Project along with the outbreak of rinderpest, however due to the effect of government and other NGOs this reserve survived all these ill effects and today it remains to be one of the most preferred safari destinations of our country.
