General Information About BRT Tiger Reserve


Get one in a life time experience by a visit to BRT Tiger reserve situated at the South East Karnataka at the border of Tamil Nadu. The BRT wildlife sanctuary is also known as Biligiriranganatha Swamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary. Under the wildlife protection act of 1972, it was declared as a protected reserve, it was also declared as a tiger reserve in 2011 January by the government of Karnataka after the approval from India’s National Tiger Conservation Authority.

The BR hill links the Western and Eastern Ghats which allows animals to freely move thus allowing the gene flow between species’ population.

Above sea level, this place is located at a height of 5,091 feet and stretches from south to north for 16 km.

This reserve is open 365 days a year but the best season to visit is between May and October.

During this time huge number of migratory birds is also spotted as they arrive from southern part of the country.
